Intimate Beach Engagement Portraits in Smyrna DE
I got to spend some time at Woodland Beach in Smyrna Delaware to photograph the loveliest couple! Katie and Mike’s intimate beach engagement portraits were SO fun to capture. Not only was the morning lighting dreamy and romantic but you could see how much they love each other in their photos.
It was a photographers dream.
Katie and I actually went to Kindergarten and elementary school together, and hadn’t seen each other since. So I was beyond excited when she reached out to me. Not only to capture her beach engagement portraits, but also to catch up.
And how adorable is their pup Lucky?! He made these intimate beach engagement portraits that much cuter.
This remote beach setting was perfect for their personalities and overall vibe they were looking for.
Here are a few tips if you’re going for this type of feel for your own romantic portraits.
Timing is everything.
I find that sunrise portraits give the best of both worlds. You get a higher chance of having a private session while still having that beautiful golden (or magic) hour glow. Or you can also opt for blue hour by getting there before sunrise!
This is your best bet if you’re nervous about taking portraits with an audience but you really want to take your engagement portraits at a popular beach.
If you decide that this is the way to go for you, do your best to set yourself up for success!
I recommend having everything ready to go the night before and be sure to leave earlier than you think you need to. That way you give yourself time to account for traffic or finding a good parking spot.
The sunrise will wait for no one so if you want to catch those first golden sun rays let me know and I’ll be there ready to take your portraits!
