Photography is an occupation that Leeann Rae Pulchny never anticipated for herself.

Leeann, who lives in Lewes, DE, considers herself to be a family photographer because she loves spending time with her own.

“Photography is one of those hobbies that I do simply because I love creating and giving people images they will be able to cherish for the rest of time,” she said.

Pulchny’s branding and portraits leave you with a warm and cozy feeling that you get when you think about happy memories with the ones you love most.

“My brand is simple, understated, full of love and focuses of memories with loved ones,” she said. “My images tend to be warm and hopefully invoke feelings about the simple joys of life.”

The simplicity in her photography is what makes Leeann unique. She prefers to fly under the radar, so it’s her love of authentic photos that does all the talking.

It’s less about recieving recognition or attention, and more about the people she gets to work with.

“My focus lies more on creating memories with my clients,” she said. “Capturing those moments in a way that feels unique to my clients so that when they look back on the photos they feel the warmth and love of their family.”

Leeann specializes in family photography. However, she also photographs couples, graduating seniors, maternity, infants, and much more.

“I absolutely love taking photos of toddlers,” she said. “I love capturing their wild, carefree and adventurous souls.”

The reason why she adores working with families is clear. Leeann says her son helps fuel her passion for photography.

“My own family keeps me constantly inspired, I love capturing my son as he learns and grows every day,” she said. “That’s where my heart is, I have so many photos of him doing all of the things he loves to do and I want to remember him in every stage of life.”

It is because of this passion that she doesn’t call her business, Leeann Rae Pulchny Photography, a profession.

“My primary focus in life is my family and taking care of my household,” she said. “I just do the things that I love in life and that’s spending time with my family and taking photos of families for them to love and cherish forever.”

Leeann has pursued her photography for about two years now.

Leeann didn’t wake up one day and decide to become a photographer, it just unexpectedly happened overtime.

“For Mother’s Day, my husband gifted me a camera to play around with and take photos of our son,” she said. “I taught myself how to shoot and use the camera in manual mode right away and then started asking family and friends if I could take photos of them for fun.”

People started to notice her work, and started to want her to do the same for them.

Pulchny’s hobby was quickly evolving and growing, so she decided to officially make it her own business last year.

“I don’t really think of it as a ‘business’ because I don’t do it to make money, it’s all about having a creative outlet as a stay at home mother,” she said. “It’s a beautiful feeling to have a hobby and something to focus on outside of just being a mom.”

With the development of Leeann Rae Pulchny Photography over the past few years, she has collected some great client experiences.

After all, that is what Leeann intends to do. She wants her photography to capture important memories and prompt priceless feelings.

“I did a large family photo session in Lewes this summer,” she said. “After I delivered the images, my clients gave me the sweetest review and email saying how much they will cherish and remember this special session.”

It is moments like these that makes Leeann feel pride in her work and what she is capable of doing for others.

“It warms my heart to know that they will have these photos in their home and hand them down and show them to future generations of their family,” she said.

Beyond photography, Leeann has other hobbies that break away from her boss babe life.

One of those hobbies being excercise. She says being active keeps her sane.

“I’ve been a runner since I was 9 years old and I’ve run two marathons,” she said.

That isn’t the only time her side hobbies bring her outdoors.

“I absolutely love going for walks on the beach and finding sea glass,” she said. “I also love to dabble with water color paining sometimes, especially in the winter when I’m not constantly outdoors exploring with my son!”

Having those moments outside, especially with her family, is what Leeann truly adores.

“I love to get out and explore nature with my son who is 3 and a half years old,” she said. “Just being outside makes my heart happy.”

At only 28 years old, Leeann is surrounded by all the things she loves. Why? Because she made sure to carve her own path the way she wanted it to be.

Her photography business is no exception. Leeann sheds light on a different way to be a boss babe, which is inspiring to others who wish to be a family photographer.

Leeann encourages those who want to start their own business and do their own thing to just go for it.

“If you’re passionate about it then just do it,” she said. “You won’t regret trying something that you are interested in, but you will regret it if you don’t try at all.”

She also reminds other boss babes or dudes out there that its okay to get help. It’s not always easy to live the life you want.

“Ask for help if you need it because you don’t have to learn and do everything on your own,” she said.
