Solo Portraits in Smyrna Delaware

There is something special about solo portraits. I love it when I see a client view themselves in a new light. Especially after seeing how amazing they look during their solo portraits. It’s a special moment and one I’ve had the pleasure of sharing with Jenn on a few occasions.

You all should know and love this face by now!

Jenn is a client turned friend who has booked me so many times since we met. She holds a very special place in my heart, and it’s not only because she’s such a stunning model! The intent behind her solo portraits fills my photographer heart with so much joy. You see, Jenn uses photo sessions as a way to practice self love and self care.

How amazing is that?!

When Jenn last approached me she told me she wanted a sweet summer session. And to make things even better she said I had full reign on our location for the photos. Which always makes me absolutely giddy. As a photographer I have a list of places that I am just itching to do photoshoots at!

I know of a back road in Smyrna that’s abandoned. So I asked Jenn “are you down?!” And of course she said yes.

So we got creative and had fun while jamming to Lorde’s new album. (And got eaten alive by mosquitos but it was worth it). Check them out below!

And even though summer is nearing its end, I have some tips for your own solo portraits.

First of all, make sure you stay hydrated and comfortable! It doesn’t matter how stunning a photo session is, it’s not worth heat exhaustion! Prepare for it by bringing water and dressing in a comfortable outfit.

Fully treat yourself. Maybe splurge on hair and make up for your session. or some fun new accessories that go with your theme or vibe. Or simply take the day to pamper yourself and get ready for your solo portraits. The better you FEEL, the more authentic you’ll photograph.

Props! If you want to stick to a theme for your photo session, bring props that align with it. Get as creative as you’d like! Bring a fun rug or chair, or other elements that fit your vibe. I love when my clients think outside the box and really let their personalities shine!

And above all, show up ready to have the best time.
